The Swim England Swimming Challenge Gold Award is the third of four Swimming Challenge Awards that learners can achieve in the Aquatic Skills Framework when taking part in competitive swimming.
To achieve this award, learners must be able to perform both the activities in section A and section B, in the specified order without pause.
Section A asks learners to:
1. Plunge dive into water of at least full reach depth.
2. Swim 100 metres in less than three minutes using any stroke. A change of stroke may only occur at the completion of a length of the pool.
3. Tread water for two minutes with one hand behind the back.
4. Swim 10 metres, followed immediately by two surface dives into water of at least full reach depth, one head first and one feet first, bringing an object to the surface on each occasion.
Learners can achieve this award whilst working towards their Learn to Swim Stage 10 Swimming Award and the Swimming Challenge Honours Award, Rainbow Distance 1000m, Rainbow Distance 1500m, Rainbow Distance 1 mile, Rainbow Distance 2000m, Rainbow Distance 3000m, Rainbow Distance 4000m and Rainbow Distance 5000m Awards.
Learners can also be awarded with a pin badge, which can be purchased seperately to celebrate achieving the Swimming Challenge Gold Award.
